In deze editie in Amsterdam staat de geschiedenis van geweld en oorlog centraal. Hoe ervaren mensen oorlog, bezetting, vervolging en geweld in hun dagelijks leven? Hoe begrijpen zij hun omstandigheden en wat zijn bepalende sociale en culturele factoren? Hoe wordt er over oorlogen verteld en hoe worden zij herinnerd?
Our workshop wants to bring together PhD students who do cutting edge research in the field of the history of violence and war. We want to provide a forum for the discussion of work-in-progress and offer an opportunity to strengthen the ties within the network of the field.
How do individuals experience and respond to war, occupation, persecution and violence in their everyday lives? How do they make sense of their circumstances, and what are the social and cultural factors that shape different experiences? How are wars narrated and remembered, both individually and collectively? And how can we combine a local, microhistorical analysis of war experiences with wider societal, comparative or transnational perspectives?
Speakers are Maria Fritsche (NTNU), Ville Kivimäki (Tampere University), Mario Daniels (DIA), Hanco Jürgens (DIA), Krijn Thijs (DIA), Alexander Williams (Groningen University), Anne van Mourik (NIOD), Felix Streicher (Maastricht University), Gerry Faber (NIOD), Isabela Paszko (IfZ München), Manuel Mork (IfZ München) and Renske Krimp-Schraven (NIOD).
