Falling Walls Lab 2026

Op 18 juni 2026 organiseert het DIA in het kader van zijn 30-jarig bestaan het Falling Walls Lab Amsterdam in SPUI25.
Vijf studenten en young professionals pitchen tijdens deze Science Slam hun innovatieve en baanbrekende idee of onderzoek in drie minuten voor een professionele jury. De winnaar reist in november af naar de Falling Walls Global Finale in Berlijn. De centrale vraag is: Waar gaan – in navolging van de val van de Berlijnse muur – in de nabije toekomst muren vallen en doorbraken plaatsvinden?
De jury bestaat uit:
- Felix Bohr: auteur en journalist bij het weekblad Der Spiegel
- Anahit Galstyan: hoofd agronomie bij BASF
- Leah Niederhausen: promovendus aan de Universiteit voor Humanistiek, gespecialiseerd in restitutie, archieven en historische rechtvaardigheid
- Thomas Walter: senior beleidsmedewerker bij de Duitse ambassade in Den Haag
- Caspar David Peter: Associate Professor bij de Rotterdam School of Management
Tijdens het juryoverleg spreken Ellen Tomesen en Hanno Balz over de uitdagingen van internationaal netwerken in de wetenschap.

On 18 June 2026, the DIA will host the Falling Walls Lab Amsterdam as part of its 30th anniversary.
During this Science Slam, students and young professionals will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative and groundbreaking idea or research in 3 minutes to a professional jury. The winner will travel to Berlin in November for the Falling Walls Global Finale. The central question is: Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, where will walls come down and breakthroughs occur in the near future?
The jury consists of:
- Felix Bohr: author and journalist at the weekly magazine Der Spiegel
- Anahit Galstyan: Head of Agronomy at BASF
- Leah Niederhausen: PhD candidate at the University of Humanistic Studies, specializing in Restitution, Archives, and Historical Justice
- Thomas Walter: Senior Policy Officer at the German Embassy in The Hague
- Caspar David Peter: Associate Professor at the Rotterdam School of Management
During the jury deliberation, Ellen Tomesen from the Dutch ambassy in Berlin and Hanno Balz from the German Academic Exchange Service will discuss ‘Challenges within international scientific networking’.
