Workshop
On 18-19 May 2006, the Germany Institute of the University of Amsterdam hosted an international workshop, organised jointly with the OTB Research Institute for Housing, Urban and Mobility Studies of Delft University of Technology, on ‘Evidence-based planning’, with Andreas Faludi, Professor of Spatial Policy Systems in Europe at Delft as the convenor. In 2004, the Dutch Presidency of the EU organised an informal ministerial meeting on territorial cohesion at Rotterdam. There it was decided to produce an evidence-based document, drawing on the outcomes of the work of the European Spatial Planning Observation Network ESPON – tens of thousands of pages of research reports commissioned over the past several years with the intention to serve as a basis for policy-making.
